◈ On November 25, 2019, Minister Kim Hyeonsoo of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) of the Republic of Korea, and Minister Veng Sakhon of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) of the Kingdom of Cambodia, are to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on agricultural cooperation.

❍ At the ROK-Cambodia Summit (March 15, 2019 in Phnom Penh), Cambodia proposed the renewal of the bilateral MOU on agricultural cooperation (signed in 2012 and expired in 2017). On the occasion of the 2019 ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit, the MOU is renewed.

❍ MOU lays the groundwork for mutual prosperity with Cambodia, in which the largest number of Korean overseas agricultural resources development companies do business.

◈ Both countries hope that the renewed MOU will expand practical bilateral cooperation in the field of agri-food.

❍ Biennial Agricultural Cooperation Working Group meetings are planned to solve difficulties experienced by Korean companies operating in Cambodia and discuss agricultural development cooperation through ODA projects.
