Strengthening quarantine control until the end of March mainly in vulnerable areas following the unrest in situations such as the increase in the inflow of AI (Avian Influenza) cases from overseas and numerous detection cases for FMD infected antibodies (NSP) in Korea

❍ (AI) During the northward traveling season* of migratory birds, focus on disease-control of livestock vehicles in northward traveling routes (Incheon, northern regions of Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do), and actively perform preventive measures such as entire inspection of nationwide duck hatcheries, and closure and sterilization of traditional markets

* As of March, 380,000 migratory birds live in the country (up 3% from the same period last year)

❍ (FMD) In March, restrict movement of cattle and pig manure, which is the main transmission factor, and perform antibody testing in pig farms where the vaccination history has not been confirmed and cattle farms in border areas where there were many occurrences in the past

To prevent the outbreak of AI and FMD, it is recommended that livestock farms and facilities strictly comply with the quarantine regulations.

❍ Comply with basic quarantine rules such as people and vehicle access control, disinfecting livestock vehicles, applying quicklime around farms, and changing boots for each facility, and check every day to ensure that there are no problems with the quarantine/disinfection facilities.
