□ The African Swine Fever (ASF) Central Disaster Management Headquarters (Director Hyun-Soo Kim, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs) promotes 'Strengthening Measures to Prevent Pigs in Summer' as the risk of African swine fever increases in the summer.
ㅇ ASF in breeding pigs have not occurred for more than 7 months after the last occurrence on October 9 last year, just 23 days after the first occurrence on September 16 of last year, through drastic and rapid measures such as intensive disinfection of border areas, control of movement of vehicles, pigs and manure, and killing of all the affected areas.
ㅇ For wild boars, since the first occurrence on October 3 last year, fences of about 900 km have been installed, and a total of 1,763 capture frames and traps (988 capture frames and 775 traps) have been intensively deployed in the affected area. As a result, 9,000 wild boars were removed.
- In addition, through a joint civil-military effort, a large-scale search for carcasses by deploying more than 400 people a day was used to quickly remove pollutants, preventing the virus from traveling southward from the northern part of Gyeonggi and Gangwon.
* 1,301 carcasses were found, of which 340 were positive
ㅇ This measure came as part of reinforcement and strengthening of the countermeasures so far after the continued occurrences (631 cases so far) of ASF in wild boars in 7 cities/counties in border regions such as Paju and Goseong, expansion of virus-affected areas than the early stage of occurrence and the increased risk of ASF in breeding pigs in summer.
