Agri-food Exports to Countries Subject to the New Northern Policy Hit an All-time High, Reaping Fruitful Results of Market Exploration

◈ The exports of agri-food products to the countries subject to the New Northern Policy hit an all-time high of $129.3 million, up 44.3% year-on-year ($89.6 million), turning to black in three years.

* Exports of the previous 5 years: $86.9 million (May 2017) → $118.6 million (May 2018, up 36.5%) → $107.5 million (May 2019, up 9.4%) → $89.6 million (May 2020, up 16.7%) → $129.3 million (May 2021, up 44.3%)

* Countries subject to the New Northern Policy (13): 11 Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries plus Mongolia and Georgia

○ By the type of product, exports of fresh agricultural produce ($9.9 million, up 34.3%) and processed products ($119.4, up 45.2%) reached an all-time high. By the country, exports to Russia ($84.6 million, up 53.2%), Mongolia ($30.8 million, up 47.7%) and Uzbekistan ($2.9 million, up 28.5%) significantly increased.

 

◈ (Main content of market exploration) Russia, Mongolia and Kazakhstan were selected as strategic countries of market exploration. Support for opening local offices, sending personnel to explore markets, nurturing leading businesses and online and virtual marketing activities to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic has been provided.
