Feel the taste of Kimchi at famous places in Korea!

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Minister Chung Hwang-keun, MAFRA) and the Korean Food Promotion Institute (Chairman Yim Kyung-sook) will hold " Hansik One-day Tour for Foreigners" in the second half of this year from September 20 to October 6 with the theme of Kimchi.
"Hansik One-day Tour for Foreigners" is an experience program to promote domestic food tourism where foreigners can learn how to make Korean food including "Jang" (Korean fermented sauce and paste) and Kimchi with well-known chefs and food masters and can make them by him/herself.
The event of the second half of this year will be held under the themes of contemporary, "Jong-ga" or head house's, traditional, and temple Kimchi. Four experts of Korean food including chef Son Jong-won of Chosun Hotel and one-Michelin-starred contemporary fine-dining restaurant L'Amant Secret; "Jong-bu" or traditional successor Ahn Yang Soon; Kimchi master You Jung-im; and bonze Yu Hwa who is an expert of temple food will be the instructors.
The event will begin (at Hansik Space E:eum) in Seoul (September 20), followed by Jogyundang, a 200-year-old Head House of Gimhae Kim clan in Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do (September 25); Oeam Folk Village, which was designated as an Important Folklore Cultural Asset in Asan (September 28); and Temple Bongseon in Namyangju (October 6). There will be a total of 8 rounds of events with twice events (10:00-12:30, 14:30-17:00) a day in each of the four locations.
The event provides various opportunities to experience not only cabbage ("Baechu") Kimchi, temple Kimchi and water ("Mul") Kimchi but also traditional liquors which go well with food made with Kimchi.
"Hansik One-day Tour for foreigners" began in 2021 with the theme of "Kimchi of eight provinces in Korea." In the first half of this year, the theme of the Tour was "Jang" or Korean fermented sauces and paste, attended by 450 foreigners from 65 countries, promoting unique characteristics of Korean food.
The Tour is open to all foreigners for free. The details of application and more information are available at www.hansik.or.kr.
The participants will take Kimchi they made as a souvenir after the Tour and may get gifts if they post reviews on social networking service.
Director General Yang Joo-phil of the Food Industry Policy Bureau said, "I wish the Tour serves as an opportunity for foreigners to get more interested in and fascinated by Kimchi and Korean food. We will make continuous efforts to stimulate food tourism for foreigners visiting Korea."
