The first domestic Agri & Food Tech Startup Rising Expo for start-ups in the agri-food sector, which are the future of K-agriculture, will be held to introduce promising new technologies and attract investment.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Minister Chung Hwang-keun, MAFRA) announced that it would hold the Agri & Food Tech Startup Rising Expo 2023 or AFRO at Coex in Gangnam-gu, Seoul for three days from July 26 to 28.
The Expo, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and co-organized by Korea Agriculture Technology Promotion Agency, National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, COEX and Korea Foodtech Association, is specialized in the ecosystem of start-ups in terms of investment, market exploration and win-win partnership, going beyond the conventional ways of exhibiting, promoting and selling products of start-ups.
The Expo will be the first and the largest in Korea with about 250 rising start-ups in the agri-food sector, conglomerates, investment companies and public organizations participating.
The Expo will be divided by themes of future-oriented agriculture including smart agriculture, food technologies and green bio. During the expo period, activities to attract investment including investment consulting with private investors home and abroad and investor relations (IR) will take place.
In addition, an international conference to discuss the direction of the investment in the agri-food sector, special events including a discussion of conglomerates on how to promote win-win partnership and side-events will be held at meeting rooms.
Director General Yoon Won-seub of the Agri-food Innovation Policy Bureau of MAFRA said, "I wish this Expo can serve as an opportunity where promising start-ups, conglomerates and investors can co-prosper. Going forward, we will strengthen policy support by regularly holding the Expo, etc. in order to explore and nurture promising companies in the agri-food sector."
