NAQS’ Renovated Website Shows Korean Liquor Quality Certifications at a Glance

The National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service (Director General An Yong-deok, NAQS) renewed its website (www.naqs.go.kr/lms) to promote Korean liquor certification system* with more user-friendly interfaces. * Korean Liquor Quality Certification is a national certification system, introduced in 2014, with the aim to improve the quality of liquor, encourage the production of high-quality liquor, and protect consumers. As of October 2022, there are 168 certified items from 75 companies. Recently, Korea liquor gained attention as a new generation called “Generation MZ” got more interested in it and some Korean celebrities started Korean alcoholic beverage business. With a growing popularity of Korean alcoholic beverages, NAQS renewed its website to promote certified Korean liquor products and provide information. The website of Korean Liquor Quality Certification was renovated for the first time since 2014 when the website was newly opened. The renewed site has an intuitive, graphical user-journey to check at a glance certified Korean liquor products. Importantly, the renewed website newly developed an advanced search function that allows customers to conveniently search products by region, certification type, liquor category, online purchase option, etc. The online customers can also find what they want to buy by searching a product name or certification number. If any liquor manufacturer wishes to get certified, it can check certification and legal information on the “Korean Liquor Quality Certification” page which has a direct link to directs the user to the Korean Law Information Center. Also, a process flow and diagram at the website facilitates the user to understand the certification process. NAQS will continue its efforts to enhance and update its website of Korean Liquor Quality Certification to raise awareness of the certification system and promote excellent quality of certified products. Importantly, NAQS asked for the public’s attention to its exhibition of Korean Liquor Quality Certification and various events such as tasting certified products and cocktails, and quizzes at “2022 Korean Sool Grand Festival” held at the aT Center in Seoul from November 18 to 20, 2022.
