MAFRA Holds the Award Ceremony for 「the 7th Sharing Talent in Rural Area」

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Minister Chung Hwang-keun, MAFRA) holds an award ceremony for 「 the 7th Sharing Talent in Rural Area」at International Conference Hall of Sejong Convention Center on December 1, 2022.
After document screening and on-site evaluation, a total of 20 individuals and teams who shared talent in rural areas this year have become the final winners of the contest including two Presidential Citations, one Prime Minister's Citation and 11 Ministerial Commendations from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
This year marks the 7th anniversary of the contest, starting from 2016, which has explored and accredited individuals and teams sharing talent in various ways in rural areas with the aim of promoting urban-rural coexistence and attracting public attention to agriculture and rural areas.
The Presidential Citation is awarded to Director Ko Myung-jin of “Youngwol Media Journalist Museum”, who has made yearbooks filled with precious memories for elementary and middle school students in closed mining towns since 2011. Also, “Ewha Bongsa-dan” a volunteer group from the Ewha Womans University is garnered with the Presidential Citation for having sharing talent in training children and young students in farming and fishing villages for 22 years since 2000.
The Prime Minister's Citation is awarded to a volunteer group “Salang-ui Jib Nanumhoe” gathered by professionals in architecture, carpentry, plastering, and wallpapering. The group members have reconstructed aged or destroyed houses due to fire and other disasters for the underprivileged people in rural areas, contributing to improving accommodation of the community and making the people’s livelihood safe and comfortable.
The Ministerial Commendation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs goes to 11 individuals and teams from various fields including Prof. Jin Yong-mi of Seo Kyeong University, who has shared hairdressing service for the vulnerable in rural areas and “Hwadong-i Bongsadae” a volunteer group of Suncheon Jeil College, which has installed fire alarm systems and provided basic first-aid trainings, making rural areas safer.
Director General Lee Sang-man of the Rural Policy Bureau of MAFRA said, "We would like to express our gratitude to the winners who donated talents and gave their warm hearts for revitalizing rural communities. Going forward, we will proactively support the efforts of sharing talent through partnerships among the government, local governments, and relevant organizations.
