S. Korea Issues the Livestock Products Grade Certificate in More Languages to Increase Exports
Sejong, 23 May 2025— On 22 May, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) amended the Regulations on the Issuance of the Livestock Products Grade Certificate for Livestock Products Exports in Foreign Languages, made a public announcement of the amendment, and put the amended regulations into effect.
Now, the foreign language versions of the Livestock Products Grade Certificate will be expanded to six livestock product items—cattle, pigs, eggs, chickens, ducks, and honey—and the certificate will be issued in 11 foreign languages— English, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Malay, Khmer, Mongolian, Arab, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, and Hindi. Previously, the foreign language certificates only covered cattle and were issued in just five languages—English, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Malay, and Khmer.
The amendment was also made to meet the needs of importers in foreign countries and enhance their convenience. Specifically, before the amendment, livestock product exporters were allowed to apply for the certificate written in in the language of import countries and the Korean language only. However, with the amendment, they can choose between Korean and English as a language to be written next to the language of import countries.
