High-quality Rice Varieties, the Best Processed Rice-based Food Products, and Balanced Recipes and Diets Are Presented at a Special Event for the 11th Anniversary of the Rice Day
Sejong, 13 August 2025— On 14 August, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) will hold an event to celebrate the 11th anniversary of the Rice Day (18 August) at the National Agricultural Museum of Korea in Suwon. The event aims to make the excellence of rice more widely known, encourage more people to have rice-eating habits, and promote the consumption of rice.
The event will be attended by the Korea Rice Foodstuffs Association as well as diverse associations for Korean rice farmers, rice processing complexes (RPC), and rice cultivation. The event will also be accompanied by an awards ceremony for high-quality rice varieties, which have been selected through six weeks of evaluation carried out by a panel of judges consisting of citizens and experts.
Also, rice promotion booths will showcase eight high-quality rice varieties, eight representative rice brands from across the nation, twelve best processed rice-based food products selected as winners at a contest, etc.
Four balanced recipes and diets using rice as a main ingredient—“nurungji” (Korean-style scorched rice) pizzas, rice-based crepe wraps, rice noodles-based creamy pasta, and steamed rice steaks—will be presented as well.
