Sejong, 27 August 2024 — On 26 August, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) selected and announced the best kimchi brands of this year at the 13th Korean kimchi contest.
The grand prize was awarded to Mi-geum-chi Yulmu Chonggak Kimchi made by Imjingang Kimchi Inc. (㈜임진강김치). The ponytail radish kimchi’s palate-tempting taste maximized by a mixture of the broth from pollack and anchovy power and Job’s tears was highly praised by the judges.
The highest excellence prize went to Daebok Pogi Kimchi (baechu kimchi) made by Wooyoung Channel Inc. (㈜우영채널). The excellence prize went to Pogi Kimchi (baechu kimchi) made by Cheongone Oragnic Inc. (㈜청원오가닉); JeonJu Chan Bang Chonggak Kimchi (ponytail radish kimchi) made by Chamsikpoom Inc. (㈜참식품); and Somssiga kimchi made by SOMSSIGA Corp. (㈜솜씨가). The participation prize went to Hanbokshim Altari Kimchi (ponytail radish kimchi) made by Hanbokshim Namdosonkimchi (한복심남도손김치); Jinmine-myung-poom Kimchi (baechu kimchi) made by JMFOOD Inc.(㈜제이엠푸드); and Mi-geum-chi Yulmu Pogi Kimchi (baechu kimchi) produced by Imjingang Kimchi Inc. (㈜임진강김치).
* Baechu (배추) means kimchi cabbage.
The prize-awarding ceremony will be held at an event to celebrate the 5th Kimchi Day on 22 November.
