Farmer Safety and Disaster Insurance


(Purpose) To protect farms and farming activities against disaster under the policy insurance with the aim to ensure stable business management and support recovery

(Project) To Support part of insurance premiums for insurance subscription to cover damage coming from farming 
  • Safety Insurance for Farmers and Safety Insurance for Agricultural Workers: to cover agricultural work-related accidents that occur during agricultural work in order to protect farmers and agricultural workers from financial damage, ensure sustainable livelihood stability, and build a social safety net
  • Comprehensive Farming Machine Insurance: to cover disaster damage caused by agricultural machinery accidents that occur during farming activities in order to operate farm business in a stable manner

  • Act on Safety Insurance for Farmers and Fishers and Prevention of Work Accidents
  • Special Act on Improvement of Quality of Life of Farmers and Fishers and Promotion of Development of Farming and Fishing Villages

(Period) From 1996 onward

(Target)
  • Safety Insurance for Farmers: Farmers aged from 15 to 87 (84-year-old for some policies)
  • Safety Insurance for Agricultural Workers: Farm owners or agricultural corporations that employ agricultural workers aged from 15 to 87 (working for less than 90 days)
  • Comprehensive Farming Machine Insurance: Farmers that own or manage 12 types of farming machines that meet insurance eligibility

(Condition) 50% government (70% in case of small-scale farmers)
