Policy Purpose
Compensating farmers who practice eco-friendly livestock farming the difference between the decreased initial income and production cost to promote eco-friendly livestock farming and building sustainable livestock basis by conserving the environment
Progress
Performing demonstrative project of 'direct payment system for eco-friendly livestock industry' in 2004 - 2006 (3 years)
(2004) 459 units / KRW 3.4 billion → (2005) 574 units / KRW 4.4 billion → (2006) 599 units / KRW 5.0 billion
From 2009, after carrying out the project, expanding budget and target livestock kind
Target Livestock Kind: (2009) Cattle (fattening cattle), milking cows, pigs, layer chickens, fattening chickens (Korean native chickens) → (2011) ducks and duck's eggs were added → (2014) Add quail eggs and mountain goats (meat and milk) were added (Total 9 types)
Expanding payment limit and period for organic livestock (2015)
Payment Limit (Annual): KRW 20 million → KRW 30 million, Payment Period: 3 years (times) → 5 years (times)
Excluding new zero antibiotic certified farmers and corporations after March 1, 2018, from targets
Project Targets
Selecting project targets based on applicant information entered in system
In case the sum of applied amount exceeds the total budget, selecting according to the following priorities
① Organic livestock farms
② Farms designated as pasture ecological livestock farms
③ Farms with earlier dates of both eco-friendly certification and HACCP certification (Both certifications must be satisfied)
④ Farms with earlier dates of eco-friendly certification if the date of qualification according to '③' is the same
⑤ If requirements in ③ and ④ are the same, farms with larger breeding facility
Support Contents
(Target Kinds) A total of 9 kinds including Korean cattle, dairy cows (milk), pigs, layer chickens (eggs), fattening chickens (including Korean native chickens), ducks, duck's eggs, quail eggs, and mountain goats (meat and milk) * Excluding breeding stocks and breeding eggs (eggs, duck's eggs and quail eggs) from subsidy payment targets
Annual payment limit per farm: for organic farm, KRW 30 million
