Direct Payment for Landscape Conservation


Purpose
To build beautiful rural landscape, maintain and improve it by cultivating landscape crops unique to each region and improving landscape of villages, and utilize the refined landscape for local festivals, rural tourism and urban-rural exchange programs with the aim to revitalize the local economy
Applicable Law
Article 11 of Special Act on the Implementation of the Agreement Establishing the World Trade Organization Article 5 of Enforcement Rule of the Act on the Implementation of the Direct Payment Program for Agricultural Goods Growers Article 30 of Special Act on Improvement of Quality of Life of Farmers and Fishers and Promotion of Regional Development of Farming and Fishing Villages Article 44 of Framework Act on Agriculture, Rural Community and Food Industry
Project
Period: From 2005 onward Target: Farmers and agricultural corporations registered to grow landscape crops in farmlands and others being subject to landscape conservation support Eligibility: Farmland: can be used for urban-rural exchange programs such as local festivals, experiences, and tourism, with a planting area for landscape crop grouped by village (district) and lots (grouped by over 2 ha for landscape crops and 10ha for quasi-landscape crops) in accordance with Article 2 Paragraph 1 of Farmland Law
Grassland: Received a subsidy for disadvantaged areas at least once from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2019 and being utilized and managed for agriculture in accordance with Article 2 Paragraph 1 of Grassland Law
*Excluding farmlands receiving direct payment for paddy uses, and farmlands and grasslands receiving support for government purchase of the crop or seed purchase for green manure crop, and farmland receiving support for seed purchase for forage Fund: KRW 1.7 million/ha for landscape crops, KRW 1 million/ha for semi-landscape crops, or KRW 45,000 /ha for semi-landscape grassland Support: Farmland - Government 50%, Local 50%, Grassland- Government 80%, Local 20% Implemented by the city mayors and Head of Gun

* Crops (flowering plants) other than target crops (example) can be cultivated if they meet the project purpose with approval of Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
